Nordic and Baltic states welcome decision of opposition forces in Syria to join hands

The Estonian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Urmas Paet, today delivered a statement on behalf of the five Nordic countries and the three Baltic states at the “Friends of Syria” conference held in Marrakech in Morocco to discuss the situation in Syria. The statement welcomes the decision of opposition forces in Syria to join hands under one umbrella, stating that the Nordic and Baltic countries accept the new Coalition as legitimate representatives of the Syrian people and that they stand ready to support the Coalition on its path towards building a strong and viable political alternative to the current regime in Syria.

The meeting in Marrakech is the fourth meeting of the „Friends of Syria“ group but it has met previously this year in Tunis, Istanbul and Paris.
