Iceland participates in the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference (ASRC), 25-27 June 2019, Hofburg Vienna.

Iceland reiterated its support for the Structured Dialogue at the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference (ASRC) from 25 to 27 June  2019 at Hofburg Vienna. H.E. Mr. Thórdur Aegir Óskarsson, Ambassador and Special Envoy for Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Iceland emphasized the importance of measures to prevent military incidents on and over the High Seas, as well as addressing hybrid threats.

In discussions on Conventional Arms Control (CAC) and Confidence and Security Building Measures (CSBMs), Ambassador Óskarsson said that there were an urgent need to apply more energy to disarmament and arms control efforts, not only conventional weapons, but also weapons of mass destruction. He called for the modernisation of the Vienna Document, strengthening of the Open Skies agreement and full implementatation of the Conventional Armed Foreces in Europe Treaty (CFE), and referred to OSCE activities in the field of small and light weapons (SALW).
