Lovells UK Legal Office Advice to the Government of Iceland

The UK legal office of Lovells LLP has provided advice to the Government of Iceland on possible legal action against the UK aimed at overturning the Landsbanki Freezing Order. The Freezing Order, issued by the UK government on 8 October 2008 on the authority of the UK Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001, freezes certain funds relating to Landsbanki, including those owned, held or controlled by the Icelandic Government and authorities. Lovells have delivered their opinion to the Government of Iceland. That opinion is strictly confidential and subject to legal privilege. At the request of the Government of Iceland, however, Lovells have prepared an executive summary of their opinion.
