Ambassador Met Virtually with Members of the Icelandic Business Forum

Yesterday, Ambassador Thórir Ibsen, along with staff at the Embassy of Iceland, met virtually with members of the IBF (Icelandic Business Forum). The IBF is central to the Icelandic business community here in China and works, together with the Embassy of Iceland to promote Icelandic business and trade and to foster cooperation among Icelandic companies and businesses.  The meeting was the first between the new ambassador and the business community.


The defining characteristic of the Icelandic business community in China is its diverse portfolio, especially within such sectors as foodstuffs, food processing technology, geothermal utilization, tourism, cosmetics, medical equipment and health products,, and transportation, and its wide geographical distribution, with several major Chinese centres represented. Yesterday, the following IBF member companies joined the meeting from their headquarters in Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai and Zhongshan; Arctic Green Energy China, BEAL (Icelandair China GAS), Bioland Co., Ltd., local distributor for BioEffect, BRIM/SH China, Carbon Recycling International (CRI-MFE), Eimskip Logistics, Green Diamond, Hotel of Iceland, Huashangyuan Co., Ltd., local distributor for lceland Spring, IS Seafood, Marel China and ÖSSUR Asia.  


The ambassador used the opportunity to introduce himself and reiterate the Embassy´s ongoing commitment towards Icelandic companies and businesses in China. Likewise, members of the IBF introduced themselves and gave short summaries of their businesses.
