China´s Special Representative for European Affairs Visited Iceland

Iceland´s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Development Cooperation welcomed Mr. Wu Hongbo, China´s Special Representative for European Affairs, who met with Mr. Martin Eyjólfsson, Permanent Secretary of State, and other officials at the ministry, for a successful bilateral discussion on Iceland-China relations.
 
The meeting was in part connected to this year’s 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. At the meeting the two parties discussed several bilateral and multilateral issues. Among these where cooperative issues such as research cooperation in the Arctic, bilateral climate cooperation and an MoU on environmental cooperation. Global and regional issues such as multilateral systems and human rights, climate change and global response and recovery after the pandemic, were also discussed.
