Ambassador’s Meeting with the Foreign Minister of Mongolia
Ambassador Thórir Ibsen met with the Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg of Mongolia to discuss their shared interest in enhancing women's leadership in international affairs. During their meeting, they discussed the importance of promoting gender equality and empowering women to take on leadership roles in global decision-making processes.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg expressed particular interest in the GRÓ Gender Studies program in Iceland, which has been instrumental in advancing women's rights and leadership opportunities in Iceland and beyond. The program provides a platform for women to develop their leadership skills and to gain the knowledge and expertise needed to succeed in a variety of fields.
The Ambassador met also with the Deputy Foreign Minister, H.E. Amartuvshin. The two discussed bilateral relations between Iceland and Mongolia, with the aim to elaborate on and continue with cooperations on shared interests. Among these is the good participation of students from Mongolia in Iceland´s GRÓ Centre training programmes.
