Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir attended Nordic-India Summit

Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir participated in a Nordic-India Summit in Copenhagen yesterday. At the summit the prime ministers of the five Nordic countries met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Among the topics discussed at the summit were Russia‘s invasion of Ukraine and it‘s serious impact on international peace and security, the COVID-19 pandemic, actions to combat climate change and the importance of multilateral cooperation.

Following the summit, the prime ministers realeased a joint statement.

Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir also had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi. The ministers discussed the relations between Iceland and India, where the focus ares have been renewable energy, especially geothermal power, fisheries and tourism. The ministers also discussed equality, climate change and green technical solutions.

Lastly, Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir had a bilateral meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The main topics of discussion were international affairs and the relations between Iceland and Denmark.
