Icelandic visit to Uttarakhand

Ambassador of Iceland meets the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Sh. Pushkar Sing Dhami. - mynd

The utilization of geothermal energy was the main theme in the visit of Ambassador Guðni Bragason to Uttarakhand State 11 – 13 November 2021. The Ambassador met with Mr. Pushkar Sing Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in the state capital of Dehradun. Present where also DCM Sigþór Hilmisson and Trade Counselor Rahul Chongtham. Considerable geothermal capacity is in the state which has mainly been utilized in connection with religious activities. A meeting was also held with Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, State Minister for Renewable Energy. Ambassador Bragason also met Mrs. Inda Bala, a champion for women's rights in Uttarakhand and Vice President of World Council of Arya.

The Indo-Icelandic Business Association (IIBA) under Chairman Prasoon Dewan organized the visit in cooperation with Mrs. Deepti Rawat Bhardwaj, Vice Chairman, Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand. The IIBA Chairman and the Ambassador addressed a working dinner with the business community organized by the IIBA. Trade Representative Rahul Chongtham introduced cooperation possibilities in geothermal and tourism. The Icelandic group visited the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology and the Doon School.
