Ambassador of Iceland presents Letter of Credence to President of the Russian Federation

Ambassador Árni Thór Sigurdsson presented his Letter of Credence yesterday to President Vladimir Putin on his appointment as Ambassador of Iceland to the Russian Federation.

The ceremony took place in Alexander Hall in Kremlin Grand Palace. On this occasion, Vladimir Putin addressed the 19 Ambassadors who presented their credentials. In his address to Iceland, he expressed the wish to further strengthen the relations between the two countries, both bilaterally and through regional cooperation. He mentioned Iceland‘s current Chairmanship in the Arctic Council, which Russia will take over next year. Other topics included important cooperation in the fields of high technology and development in the fisheries sector, and the design of fishing vessels and opportunities in the fields of geotheormal energy and agriculture
