Ambassador visits the NARA Institute in Colombo - mynd

Ambassador Guðni Bragason visited the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency( NARA) in Colombo during his visit to Sri Lanka from 31 January to 03 February, accompanied by the Consul General of Iceland, Mr Prakrama Sujan Wijewardene, and Mr. Emmanuel Gunaratnam, Trade Advisor at the Consulate. Ambassador Bragason held consultations with Dr.  H.M.P Kithsiri, Director General of NARA on future cooperation possibilities. Present were also two scientist who have participated in courses given by the Fisheries Training Programme (FTP) in Iceland and the Icelandic Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, A.B.AK. Gunaratne and Jujeewa Ariyawansa.

Over 20 scientists from Sri Lanka have participated in the FTP-programmes in Iceland. The FTP has also conducted several seminars in Sri Lanka on the the safety of vessels and project management in fisheries, within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the countries.
