The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Institute of International Affairs would like to draw your attention to a meeting today where Dr. Marcela Villarreal, Director of FAO's Gender, Equity and Rural Employment Division, introduces a new report by the Un food and agriculture organisation (FAO) on Women and Food Security.

Also speaking will be Hermann Örn Ingólfsson, Director General of International Dvelopment Cooperation and Irma Erlingsdóttir, Director of the Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme (GEST) at the University of Iceland.

The event (in English) will take place on Monday 16 May, from 14-16 in the Lecture Room at the National Museum, Suðurgata 41.

The introduction will be followed by a panel discussion. Participants will be:

Dr. Mercela Villarreal.

Dr. Grímur Valdimarsson, former Director of the Fishery Industries Division of FAO.

Dr. Hafdis Hanna Ægisdottir, the Director of the Land Restoration Training Programme of the UN University in Iceland.

Dr. Sigridur Thorgeirsdóttir, the Chairman of the Board of GEST and a professor in philosophy at the University of Iceland.

Þórdis Sigurðardóttir, Deputy Director of ICEIDA.

The event is organized in cooperation with ICEIDA and GEST.
