Content layout

The layout is based on dividing the base area into 14 units. 3/14 on the left side is allocated to a white stripe bearing the Icelandic coat of arms, while 11/14 on the right side is used for a solid colour block. The coat of arms is 1/14 in width and is centred within the white stripe, approximately two coat-of-arms heights from the top.

For material such as advertisements, where both text and images need to be included, the base area is divided vertically into 7 sections, with at least the top two reserved for the heading and the coat of arms.

In certain cases, the 1/14 vertical division and 1/7 horizontal division may not be suitable, for example, if the base area is unusually narrow or wide, or if the coat of arms needs to be given greater prominence.

In such cases, the base area may be divided into a different number of sections, such as 10 or 18 vertically, and 5 or 9 horizontally.

Care should be taken to ensure that the white stripe on the left is always less than one third of the base area.
