Ambassador of Iceland to Uzbekistan presented his credentials

Ambassador Árni Thór Sigurdsson presented his credentials on 16 February 2021 to Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as Ambassador of Iceland to the Republic of Uzbekistan, residing in Moscow.

Ambassador Sigurdsson and Foreign Minister Kamilov exchanged views on the bilateral relations between Iceland and Uzbekistan, including cooperation within international organisations. They also discussed possibilities for strengthening trade and economic relations, and cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, tourism, education, research and innovation.

On February 17, Ambassador Sigurdsson addressed the congress and exhibition Hydropower Central Asia and Caspian where he discussed Iceland‘s experience with renewable energy, especially in the fields of hydroelectric and geothermal. The Ambassador had a meeting with Vice Deputy Minister Sherzod Hodzhaev of the Ministry of Energy where they discussed possibilities for cooperation between Iceland and Uzbekistan in the field of renewable energy. He also met with representatives of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, where possibilities of cooperation within the energy sector, trade and other fields were discussed.
