Iceland strongly condemns Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine stands in full solidarity with Ukraine and it's people.


Israel Palestine - Iceland's response

Parliamentary resolution 522/154, approved by Alþingi on 9 November 2023 epitomises Iceland's position with regard to the conflict between Israel and the terrorist organisation Hamas.


What we do

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs safeguards the interests of Icelandic citizens, companies and consumers by facilitating access to international markets and strengthening free trade. The Ministry supports Icelandic firms abroad and promotes Icelandic arts and culture.

Bjarni Benediktsson

Bjarni Benediktsson is Minister for Foreign Affairs since 14 October 2023. He was Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs from 30 November 2017 to 14 October 2023. Has has been a member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi for Southwest Iceland since 2003, Bjarni Benediktsson has been leader of the Independence party since 2009.
