Ambassador Ásgeirsson presents his credentials in Costa Rica

On Wednesday February 13 Ambassador Pétur Ásgeirsson presented his credentials as Ambassador of Iceland to Costa Rica, with residence in Canada, to the president of Costa Rica H.E. Mr. Carlos Alvarado Quesada.

During the ceremony a part of Costa Rica’s symphonic orchestra played the national anthems of both countries. After the presentation the Ambassador had a meeting with the president where they discussed the many things the two countries have in common as well as possibilities for increased cooperation and communication. 

The president was especially interested in gender equality, geothermal energy and fisheries. He also declared his admiration for the Icelandic national soccer team, which he said had impressed his whole nation. 

In his visit to Costa Rica the Ambassador also met with Foreign Minister Manuel Ventura,
Minister for International Trade, Dyalá Jiménez Figueres, MP Victor Morales, who is the leader of one of the political parties leading the government and MP Patricia Villegas. 

Honorary consul for Iceland in Costa Rica, Mr. Ricardo Castro Calvo participated in the visit and meetings with the Ambassador.
