Iceland and the Fourth Industrial Revolution

This 2019 report, titled Iceland and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, presents the current global discourse on 4IR and discusses its implications for Icelandic society.

Commissioned by the Prime Minister of Iceland, the report provides a foundation for further discussion regarding the critical issues of technology-driven societal change. The report studies the potential impact of automation on the Icelandic labour market, presents a brief historical overview of Iceland in the context of previous industrial revolutions and highlights topics particularly relevant to the country today, such as opportunities for Iceland as a resource- and knowledge-based economy and the relationship between technological advancement and equality.
