Deputy Minister Titov of Russia meets Minister Skarphedinsson

OS-og-Titov-juni-2010Vladimir Titov, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Russia, met today with Össur Skarphédinsson, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland. In their meeting the ministers discussed issues of the High North and bilateral cooperation, including on fisheries, trade, energy and culture. Minister Titov also met with the permanent Secretary of State and other officials from the Icelandic Foreign Ministry.

Iceland and Russia have enjoyed a good cooperation on fisheries, including fishing supervision, marine research and management of fishing stocks in the North-Atlantic. The countries also cooperate in the energy sector, including the utilization of geothermal resourcues in Kamchatka. Minister Titov visited the Hellisheidi-geothermal power plant. following the meeting with Minister Skarphedinsson.
