Embassy's Jurisdiction

The Embassy represents Iceland in Japan as well as Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines and Timor-Leste. The Embassy's mission is to safeguard Icelandic interest and further develop good relations with the respective states.

Iceland and Japan formally established diplomatic relations on December 8 1956 and therefore the countries will celebrate their 50th years anniversary later this year.

The Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo was opened 2001 as well as the Embassy of Japan in Iceland.

Diplomatic relations were established between Brunei Darussalam and Iceland 27 April 2006. The Icelandic Embassy in Tokyo currently represents Iceland in diplomatic relations with Brunei Darussalam. There are currently no Icelandic consulates in Brunei Darussalam.

Diplomatic relations were established between the Philippines and Iceland 24 February 1999.  The Icelandic Embassy in Tokyo currently represents Iceland in diplomatic relations with the Philippines. The Philippine Embassy in Oslo, Norway attends to relations between the two countries.
