Cultural Affairs

Arts and culture is thriving in Iceland and the creative industries have become a vibrant and growing sector of the Icelandic economy. Iceland, long known for its exotic nature, is picking up as a cultural destination, thanks to its many international cultural festivals, Harpa concert hall, rock-bands and the Icelandic sagas to mention only few reasons. The Embassy's work reflects this development in many ways, as culture is an important and growing part of it. The Embassy promotes Icelandic arts and culture, participates in and supports initiatives by artists, institutions, festivals and others. The Embassy has no funds of its own, its cultural work is financed by public funds of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Culture. You will find information about various fields of arts and culture in Iceland under the link "Arts and Culture" below. You are also welcome to contact the Embassy for further information or services.
