The Embassy represents Iceland vis-a-vis The Russian Federation, The Republic of Armenia, The Republic of Azerbaijan, The Republic of Belarus, The Republic of Kazakhstan, The Kyrgyz Republic, The Republic of Moldova, The Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and The Republic of Uzbekistan.

1979: MA degree in International Relations from Boston University

1979: Head of the Department of Information and Culture, MFA of Iceland

1981: First Secretary of the Embassy of Iceland in Bonn

1983: Deputy Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe

1984: Vice-Chairman of the Icelandic Delegation to the Conference of Security and Confidence-Building Measures in Europe (CSCE)

1984-1988: Counsellor of the Embassy of Iceland in Stockholm

1988-1996: Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs

1996-1999: Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Copenhagen, Denmark

1999-2002: Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Iceland

2002 -2006: Deputy Secretary General of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Paris

2006 -2007: Ambassador, Director General of Trade and Economic Co-Operation, Ministry for Foreign Affairs

09.2007-2011: Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Security.

03.2011- 08. 2016: Ambassador of Iceland to France, Italy, Spain, Andorra, Algeria, Djibouti, Morocco and Tunisia.

09.2016 –  Ambassador to the Russian Federation
